What time does Las Vegas Boulevard Close on New Year’s Eve?
Traffic can be tough on New Year’s Eve, especially if you are traveling to the Strip from another area of Las Vegas. To make the most of your time, stay on the Strip all day on December 31, so you can avoid running into heavy traffic and road closures in the afternoon.
A few freeway lane closures will slow down a commute from Downtown Las Vegas, or the surrounding suburbs, when traveling toward the Strip. Cross-traffic on Las Vegas Boulevard may be closed as early as 4:00 p.m., with final closure by 6:45 p.m. After that, Las Vegas Boulevard will be open to pedestrian traffic only, and you can make your way around on foot to find the perfect firework viewing spot. What is there to do in Las Vegas on New Year’s Eve?
With food, parties, concerts and shows galore, there’s no reason to leave the Strip while you wait for the midnight fireworks displays.
Grab a meal at one of the hundreds of quick-service or fine dining establishments dotted all over the Strip and inside of the sparkling hotels. To stay occupied, book tickets for music concerts with artists such as Maroon 5 and Drake, who are both scheduled to perform on the Strip for New Year’s Eve. There are also a handful of Cirque Du Soleil shows to choose from, and the show runtimes will get you out in time to see the fireworks. When planning out your day, be sure to leave enough time to find the perfect viewing spot, as the road will be crowded with hundreds of thousands of people doing the exact same thing.
What items are not allowed during the New Year’s Eve celebrations in Las Vegas?
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police officers will be stationed around the strip to provide the utmost security, so you can enjoy the night with ease. This does also mean that certain security measures will be in place. For example, items like glass bottles and drinking containers, large bags or backpacks, coolers and strollers are prohibited.
