While we appreciate the powerful women in our lives every day, International Women’s Day is a chance to for us to show them how much we truly appreciate their hard work.
Every year on March 8, the world celebrates International Women’s Day as a way to appreciate the strides women have made in all facets of life.
Beginning as National Women’s Day, the holiday was first celebrated in the U.S. during a worker’s strike in 1909, while women working in factories in New York City advocated for better working conditions and rights. As this idea swept the globe, it then spread into an international celebration and movement. Today, there are numerous ways to get involved, from festivals and conferences to sharing on social media with #IWD2020.
Women play an integral role in the day-to-day operations at Diamond Resorts and ahead of #IWD2020, we asked a few of our female executives and Diamond Celebrity ambassadors to share a few words of encouragement. From light-hearted quotes to thoughtful advice, the goal is to inspire young women around the globe.
You can read through the quotes below and then share your own advice on Twitter with #DiamondResorts and #IWD2020.
“My advice to young women is to ‘never give up’ – whether you’re playing golf or just life in general. There will be lots of ups and downs, and that’s what makes you stronger. Always learn from your mistakes, so the next time you are faced with that situation, you can crush it.”
– Brittany Lincicome, LPGA Tour professional
“Never let anyone take your light!”
– Jana Kramer, Country music artist
“My best advice for young women is to learn to love yourselves. There is nothing more powerful than loving who you are. Focus on the things that make you feel good. Be kind to yourself. Treat yourself as well as you would treat your best friend.”

“Be confident and courageous! Set ambitious, yet obtainable goals. Give it your best and know that your best is good enough!”
– Blair O’Neal, Golf Channel personality, model and professional golfer
“Work relentlessly hard and build a supportive network. Remember that you can have it all: a career and a family. Don’t let anyone make you feel that you have to choose one or the other.”

“Be true to yourself… it will take time, but once you own it, it’s powerful.”
– Maria Kalber, Senior Vice President, Customer Service and Club Operations
“‘Focus on impact, not approval.’ It’s a piece of advice I try to keep in mind daily – what contribution have I made to those around me and the world.”
