Pete Lee may seem like a sweet Midwestern guy, but he’s actually a self-proclaimed “bad boy of comedy.”
We wouldn’t argue, considering what Lee said when we asked, “What do you say when you stub your toe?” The result leaves no question as to his bad-boy status.
We sat down with Lee at Stoney’s Rockin’ Country before a recent Diamond Live show in Las Vegas to help him write his Thanksgiving vacation story.
Between giving his witty answers to our fill-in-the-blank prompts, Lee tells a few anecdotes about awkward airport encounters with big-name celebrities like LL Cool J and Charlize Theron.
Though Lee is closer to the celebrity circle than most, it turns out he’s also easily star-struck – though he says he only considers himself to be a “Q-list celebrity” in comparison to those he sees on his flights.
The resulting story involves a dramatic Thanksgiving escapade at Diamond’s Historic Powhatan Resort, anchovies and Applebee’s. But you’ll have to watch Lee’s full vacation story in the video below to find out how these pieces come together.
Lee got his start in comedy by earning his spot as a semi-finalist on NBC’s “Last Comic Standing” competition in 2008.
More recently, he has appeared on NBC’s “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” three times in the last year, after he became the first standup comedian to receive a standing ovation on the late-night talk show. Lee used part of his hour-long Diamond Live performance in Las Vegas to preview his jokes for an upcoming “Tonight Show” performance, which occurred on Thursday of the same week.
Diamond Live events like this one are only open to Diamond members and invited guests, providing attendees with the chance to interact with celebrity performers on a more personal level.
