Diamond Resorts is going green — and we’re not talking about our color.
We have made a commitment to continue improving green initiatives throughout our resorts, and the positive results are skyrocketing at our European properties.
With Diamond’s company mission to educate members, owners and guests on the importance of environmental responsibility, we have an even larger goal to build the future of sustainable travel. In recognizing the travel industry’s impact on the globe, we are taking steps toward lessening Diamond’s carbon footprint.
To kick it off, our European resort teams partnered with We Are Water to educate guests about the importance of providing clean water to countries in need, and they’ve compounded their efforts by participating in World Cleanup Day 2019.

Driven by a determination to lessen amounts of single-use plastic used — and lower the environmental cost of providing guests with all the comforts of home — changes are already in motion at our European properties. Each suite is now equipped with refillable soap and shampoo dispensers in bathrooms, the use of plastic utensils, cups and straws has been eliminated and many more improvements are already in place.
Most recently, European properties have installed water filters in all accommodation kitchens to provide clean drinking water for guests and reduce the number of plastic water bottles used year-round. In 2019, the use of plastic water bottles at our resorts has already been reduced by the equivalent of over 62 thousand bottles.
World Cleanup Day 2019
Team members from Diamond’s European properties participated in World Cleanup Day on September 21, 2019, to help clean the areas around resort grounds and continue their shift into more eco-friendly daily practices.
For World Cleanup Day, team members and resort guests worked together to collect waste from resort grounds and separate the recyclable materials to properly dispose of them. A total of 282 participants helped out — nearly 40% of which were resort guests.
Over 280 kilograms (approximately 617 pounds) of waste was collected by the end of the day, and the majority of this waste consisted of plastic products. Now, these plastic materials can now be properly recycled for reuse, showing that this initiative is already bringing a positive environmental change.
These results are outstanding, and Diamond Resorts looks forward to continuing these eco-friendly efforts in daily operations to make resort properties more sustainable and to help keep the planet clean.
See how our guests and team members are bringing positive change with #DiamondGoGreen.
