Toothpaste, shampoo and soap. Basic items for most; essential needs for others.
Last week, Diamond’s corporate office in Las Vegas created hygiene kits for local homeless veterans that U.S.VETS — Las Vegas can distribute to those in need. Our team members filled bags with essential, hygiene items to help veterans who wouldn’t normally have access to these basic luxuries.
After filling hundreds of bags, some of our Las Vegas team members personally delivered the kits to the local U.S.VETS facility. They also had the opportunity to tour the location and learn more about how to help in the future directly from those who run the operation.
U.S.VETS is the nation’s largest nonprofit provider of comprehensive services to homeless and at-risk veterans, with 20 residential sites and nine service centers across five states and in Washington D.C.
The nonprofit has a mission of helping military veterans and their families successfully transition by providing housing, counseling, career development and comprehensive support. The Las Vegas location operates more than 330 beds of transitional and permanent housing, and assists more than 400 veteran households with rapid re-housing and homeless prevention services each year.
Diamond team members delivered more than 800 hygiene kits filled with essential items that homeless veterans unfortunately have limited access to normally. These kits contained simple luxuries that most people take for granted — including deodorant, toothpaste, hair combs, shampoo, conditioner and soap.
“Charity is a key tenet of our brand and we take supporting our military heroes seriously,” said Diamond CEO, Mike Flaskey. Our military members can get a discount of 10% off the best available prices year round.
