Looking for a fun quarantine pastime? Neal McCoy brought a little country karaoke to brighten up everyone’s day for the latest #DiamondLIVE @ Home show.
The country music artist got his big break in a 1981 talent contest, scored a spot opening for superstar country singer Charley Pride, and the rest is history.
McCoy went live on the Diamond Resorts Facebook page to showcase a few fan-favorite songs right from his truck on Thursday, July 2, 2020.
“Just trying to do shows, and bring people laughter and joy,” McCoy said while talking about his current motivation to perform. He’s been holding weekly online karaoke concerts from his truck for over two months already and bringing smiles to fans’ faces every Friday.
He kicked off this special Diamond livestream with a cover of Charley Pride’s “Kiss an Angel Good Mornin’,” before treating viewers to some of his own famous tunes. McCoy performed his No. 1 single “Wink,” well-known for being the most played song in country music during 1994, and the heartfelt ballad “That’s All” from his 2016 album “You Don’t Know Me.”
While answering some questions submitted by members and fans, McCoy revealed where he got some of his early music inspiration, more about the talent contest that sparked his career and how close he’s gotten with the cows on his ranch during quarantine.
“I’ve spent a lot of time out here… In our 40 years, this is the most time we’ve ever been consecutively around each other,” McCoy joked about spending quarantine with his wife. “So I’ve been out here with the horses and cows a lot.”
